So it’s been a little more than a year since I’ve been on one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I am so glad that my parents paid for such a costly expedition. But I miss it so much now, and I just wish that I can go on more National Geographic Student Expeditions. Sadly, this was for high school students–me being a graduating senior at the time–and I guess I can’t go. It would be amazing to be a leader in the future after I graduate.
Because of this nostalgia and missed memories, I’m definitely going to look more into study abroad opportunities. I’d love to go to the Middle East or Southern Asia. Somewhere there. I want to do a homestay, I want to learn the culture, I want to photograph my experience like I did with this experience
Let the nostalgia commence as I post this. I was the head in making the slideshow for the photography group of our expedition. I’m towards the end and it is my photo project showing what I thought were the values of Tanzania, Africa.
(Tanzania, I will reunite with you one day, hopefully.)
This must be one of the most spontaneous photoshoots that I have had thus far, which has stemmed from my good friend, John Enriquez, facebook status update: “Is anyone at UCR a make-up artist, or aspiring to be one?“ However, if all goes well, I believe that it would be the best photographs I have produced. Trying to emulate Stephen Eastwood, I will definitely have this studio-lit, with great attention to the eyes. The different eyes represent the different classic elements of earth, wind, fire, and water. I believe that each element has its own unique set of adjectives that describe its individualistic nature. These are just tentative sketches on what I imagine it would be like. However, I have no idea if these are practical or not. In any case, I believe that the make-up artist, who I will be working with, Rachel Li, will pull it off well and be able to show off her technique beautifully in this upcoming photoshoot.
I have neglected photography for the longest time, being here, experiencing the college life. Although it has treated me well, besides the late nights, early mornings, and immutable routines, I have grown as a person, when it was much needed in such a low point of my life.
Now, with really no complaints--but with the occasional excuse now and then--I hope to focus more on photography, and art as a whole, to express myself in theways I know best.
So now, expect this photoblog to be updated with brainstorming, inspiration, photoshoots, behind the scenes, and more.
